Lucille Ball

If you haven’t grabbed it yet, the new weekly schedule can be found by clicking to see Full Story & Pictures and then the following link; ShowSchedules

Headlining the list this week is a two-hour “Love For Lucy” special marking Lucille Ball’s birthday. In addition to a couple episodes of My Favorite Husband plus her appearance on The Screen Director’s Playhouse, I will share with all of you more of my visit with Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne as he relates his personal experiences with Lucy.

Another birthday highlight is a funny fella who is still with us; Stan Freberg (88 on Aug. 7th). Not only do I have a couple episodes of his 1957 series, The Stan Freberg Show but once again he is also featured in a dramatic role in Suspense and plus headlines The CBS Radio Workshop’s “Colloquy” Three: An Analysis of Satire.”

Two centennial celebrations for a couple of radio, film and television actors born on the same day and year (August 5th, 1914) as we will honor both David Brian (Mr. District Attorney) and Parley Baer (Chester on Gunsmoke and also featured on Escape, Tales Of The Texas Rangers, etc)

Some of the other birthday tributes are for the following; Robert Mitchum (in Suspense’s “Crossfire”, “Death At Life Oak”); Robert Taylor (Lux Radio Theater’s “Broadway Bill”, Suspense’s “House In Cypress Canyon”); Wally Maher (Four episodes of The Whistler); Louis Armstrong (Jack Benny Program, An American Gallery); Larry Haines (Inner Sanctum Mysteries); Marilyn Maxwell (Abbott & Costello Show) and more.
