Wow, we are already into June! Hard to believe. Two major highlights headline the week: the 70th Anniversary of D-Day (The Allied Invasion of Normandy during WWII) and Dean Martin’s birthday (this year featuring some recent comments by his former show biz partner, Jerry Lewis)
Additional birthday tributes for the following folks among others; Rosalind Russell, Tony Curtis, Marilyn Monroe, William Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy), Tom Collins (Frank Race, Chandu) and Walter Tetley (Leroy on The Great Gildersleeve, Julius on The Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show).
We also celebrate the 65th anniversary of the debut of Dragnet with two hours of episodes (four in a row.)
Back to the top to highlights -
To mark D-Day we bring back The Orson Welles Almanac special about that WWII Allied Invasion of Normandy which was on June 6th, 1944.
As to this year’s Dean Martin birthday tribute (Born June 7th, 1917 – December 25, 1995) it features two Martin & Lewis Shows, plus Dean and Jerry’s visit to both The Bob Hope Show and Barry Gray’s Scout About Town. And as I shared earlier, it will include some of the now 88 year old Jerry’s loving comments about his radio and film partner. That interview is courtesy of Turner Classic Movies Film Festival held in Hollywood back in April.
