Wow, we are already into June! Hard to believe. Course that means the inaugural Radio Spirits Old-Time Radio Cruise is coming up in just a few weeks. Gonna be a blast. Thanks to all of you that are able to join me, and for all of you that were not able to sail on this one, we hope to have them each year (and possibly even a land-lubber resort option down the road.)

Okay another busy week; with birthday tributes for the following folks among others; movie stars – Dean Martin, Rosalind Russell, Tony Curtis, William Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy). And also Tom Collins (Frank Race, Chandu) and Walter Tetley (Leroy on The Great Gildersleeve, Julius on The Phil Harris & Alice Faye Show).

We mark D-Day with the return of The Orson Welles Almanac special about that WWII Allied Invasion of Normandy. Plus we have two-hours of Dragnet to mark the 64th Anniversary of it’s radio debut.

Some of the new to the channel stuff includes Lux Radio Theater’s version of the motion picture, “Silver Dollar”, plus offerings from The Damon Runyon Theater, CBS Radio Workshop, The Great Gildersleeve (with the winning name in the name the baby contest), Phil Harris & Alice Faye…..

Greg, you said on the air your wife found Walter Tetley’s voice grating. I only find it so when he does surly teenagers; he’s okay as a kid.

But that other “young” voice whiz–I forget his name but he’s also a little person–he’s the one whose voice sets my teeth on edge. Funny how tastes differ.

I always wondered what Tom Collins looked like. I could not find his picture anywhere. The Frank Race character kind of reminds me of James Bond since he is always romancing. Glad to see Dr. Kildare back in next week’s lineup. I hope that there are more Candy Matson episodes too.

Tom Collins looks more like a Chandu than a Frank Race to me I like. the Candy episodes also. Wonder if they were as popular in the day as the male sleuth series were.
