Loretta Young

If you haven’t grabbed it yet, the new weekly schedule can be found by clicking to see Full Story & Pictures and then the following link; ShowSchedules

Highlights this week include a Man Of Steel Marathon with all 6 parts of “The Sterling Tower” Superman storyline from March of 1940. We also mark the radio debut anniversary of the following series; The Saint, The Halls Of Ivy and The Screen Director’s Playhouse.

The birthday tributes are led by a centennial celebration for Oscar winning leading lady Loretta Young (she will be featured in a new to the channel Screen Director’s version of her motion picture – “The Perfect Marriage” co-starring Johnny Dollar actor Bob Bailey in the role handled in the film by David Niven)

We also mark the birthdays of Lon Clark (Nick Carter, Master Detective); Danny Thomas (The Bickersons); Father Patrick Peyton (creator of The Family Theater); Pulitzer Prize winning poet Carl Sandberg (The Cavalcade Of America); and busy radio and TV actress Helen Kleeb.

Remember the new CD box set of my favorite radio series (Radio Classics Selected By Greg Bell) can be found at my website gregbellmedia or directly from Radio Spirits CLICK HERE

Plus there are still some cabins available for the Old Time Radio cruise sponsored by Radio Spirits departing the New York City area on June 22nd for a 5 day excursion to Bermuda. The detail can be found here http://www.cruisingwithgregbell.com/

As Greg tells the date and year of a show, I often find myself thinking things like “wow, I was 6 months old when this show aired”, or “Dad was still off at war when this show aired”, or “I was a little kid, but I actually could have listened to this if I’d known”. Anyone else do this? BTW, the channel is just plain awsome!

Yes, I do this! But since I was born in the year Classic Radio died the things I think are, “Mom and Dad were just six weeks old when this aired” or “Mom and Dad were in grade school when this aired.” (Mom and Dad are exactly one day apart in age.)
